Pipedrive CSV Import Checker
CRM Import-Ready Contact Cleanup
Want the whole file cleaned? We fix emails, phones, names and duplicates and return an import-ready CSV. $9 per 500 rows.
Pipedrive's importer checks your file when you upload it, but by then you are already in the middle of the import flow. This checker runs the same kind of checks first, in your browser, and gives you a copy of the file with a note on every problem row so you can fix everything in one pass. Nothing is uploaded.
Pipedrive CSV import checker
Upload or paste the spreadsheet you plan to import into Pipedrive (save it as CSV first). The checker tests the file rules from Pipedrive's import help page: a header row, the 200,000-row and 50 MB limits, empty or misaligned columns, and rows missing a person name. It also flags duplicate and badly formatted emails.
Your file is read in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded or sent anywhere, and nothing is stored after you close the page.
Pipedrive's file requirements
From Pipedrive's help article on importing spreadsheets (source: https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/importing-data-into-pipedrive-with-spreadsheets):
- XLS, XLSX or CSV format, with one tab per import.
- A header row with column names.
- No more than 200,000 rows and a file size under 50 MB.
- Each column is a field and each row is one record. All data in a row is linked, so a person name, organization name and deal value on one row create and link all three.
Mandatory fields
Pipedrive says items missing their mandatory fields won't be imported. People require a name (or first name and last name), organizations require a name, and deals and leads require a linked person or organization (source: https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/importing-data-into-pipedrive-with-spreadsheets). The tool is preset to check that every row has a Name or a First Name. If you are importing organizations or deals, change the Required columns box, for example to Organization.
Pipedrive also suggests including identifiers such as email or phone to reduce duplicates, and importing companies as organizations (source: https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/importing-data-into-pipedrive-with-spreadsheets).
Custom fields
If a column does not match a default Pipedrive field, Pipedrive says to create custom fields before importing (source: https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/importing-data-into-pipedrive-with-spreadsheets). Make a list of your unmatched headers and create those fields first, so the mapping step goes quickly.
After the import
- Rows Pipedrive could not import go into a skip file with the reason, such as an invalid date format. You can download it, fix the rows and import them again (source: https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/importing-data-into-pipedrive-with-spreadsheets).
- Users with global admin permissions can revert an import from the import history tab within 48 hours (source: https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/importing-data-into-pipedrive-with-spreadsheets).
We suggest importing 10 or 20 rows first, checking them in Pipedrive, then importing the rest.
FAQ
Can I check an XLSX file?
Save it as CSV first (in Excel, File, Save As, CSV UTF-8). The checker reads CSV text.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is read by JavaScript in your browser. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, and nothing is kept after you close the tab.
