GoHighLevel import error 1008: "Failed validation of Email"
GoHighLevel Import Fix
We map your contacts to your exact pipelines, stages and custom fields and return an import-ready CSV plus a field map.
Your HighLevel (GoHighLevel) contact import reports 1008, Failed validation of Email. Here is what HighLevel says it means, a free email format checker, and the steps we follow.
What the error means
HighLevel's troubleshooting article describes error 1008 as an email address that does not conform to the format of a typical email address (e.g., [email protected]). It says the import did not create or update those records, so these contacts are missing until you fix and re-import them.
HighLevel's CSV format guide says an email must include @ and a domain, and that additional emails go in a separate Additional Emails column, separated by commas.

Check your CSV before you re-import
Pick your email column. The checker trims spaces, lowercases, strips mailto: and angle brackets, and flags missing or extra @, two addresses in one cell, bad characters and domains without an ending. It suggests fixes for a short list of common domain typos (like gmial.com) but leaves those for you to confirm. It checks format only; it cannot tell whether a mailbox exists. Your file stays in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
How we fix it
- Download the error log for the import from HighLevel's import status page and pull out the 1008 rows.
- Run the email column through the checker.
- Download the cleaned file, then fix the flagged rows by hand. Move second addresses into an Additional Emails column.
- If a row has no usable email, keep it only if it has another identifier, such as a phone number.
- Re-import only the corrected rows.
